Scott Mills has been supporting low cut jeans (called low riders stateside) this morning – and Jo Whiley has been canvassing views on the same – after the legislature of Britney Spears’ home state of Louisiana found it had nothing better to do than criminalise the wearing of such garments. I’m with them on this, although Brett Berry at the Arizona Daily Wildcat thinks this amounts to fascism.
If anything the opposite is the case. I’ve already documented how difficult it is to buy jeans that don’t expose my underwear. I don’t want to show people my bum, but the fashion police say I must. People who tut-tut at a bit of breast cleavage, seem far too willing to show off their underwear; which is almost always too worn for public display. Some surprises should be saved for the bedroom.
