In its own right the Coens’ Ladykillers is a solid comedy. While the devious criminal mind defeated by its foe’s foolishness concept is dated, the film successfully contemporises the story. But it’s so hard not to compare with the original (whose sense of humour survives) and on this score it falls down constantly.
A should be 7 out of 10.
