Cliché time: the big deal about holidaying in Britain is the weather. You just don’t know what it’s going to do from one day to the next, so we left Mevagissey in the rain stopping off at the Lizard, the British mainland’s most southerly point.
It was the kind of rain that lasts. It was fine and soaks particularly efficiently. The road to Lizard Point was only wide enough for one car et cetera. But the Lizard did have a rough and ready beauty. This is where the Atlantic meets the English Channel and the two seas really do appear to rub each other up the wrong way. And we can say we’ve been.
