Port Isaac basking sharks

Basking shark off Port Isaac, CornwallWe’re walking up from the Port Gaverne Hotel, a pleasant though uphill stroll into Port Isaac when suddenly the distinctive fin of a shark appears in the water. No. But yes, it really is. And a crowd quickly gathers from nowhere, ‘will jump out and eat us?’ asks a small girl. Well it obviously didn’t. These guys are particularly clever zooplankton hunters. It turns out that at least eight sharks have been buzzing Port Isaac this summer.
