I’m backing The Sun: STAMP IT OUT!

Animal rights issues have been on the back foot since the rather silly bodysnatching episode of last year and the even sillier accusations of terrorism that followed. So it’s good to see that today’s Sun has gone to town on the launch of it’s Stamp It Out campaign to stop animal cruelty.

I don’t know how well thought out The Sun campaign’s demands are, but I don’t think that really matters. They’re on the side of the angels on this one and will help swing the pendulum back in the right direction. Today’s front page, the horror stories on pages 4 & 5 and The Sun Says are apparently inspired by the lynching of Spot, which was reported just two days ago. They’re certainly quick movers.

There’s a petition here focussing on the leniency of animal cruelty sentencing and the lack of enforcement. But far more fun is this appeal: ‘Know an animal thug? [E-mail] details of what the sick yob did and the lenient penalty he or she was given’ to yourviews@the-sun.co.uk. This is the kind of terrorism I can wholeheartedly support!

While such links are not as obvious as other forms of pay-per-click advertising, they still don’t influence views expressed. Entries labelled ‘Reader Offer’ are advertising promotions.
