Hard Fi at V Festival 2006

Click to see ‘Hard Fi at V Festival 2006’ in a variety of different sizesIn the mid 1990s when dance was the thing, music was vacuous. But not always in a bad way. It was a kind of escape, the way record after record built up to nothing. Nobody bothered with words, which I found frustrating at times. Hard Fi represent the swing of the pendulum. Consider Cash Machine. It’s a bad novel set to music, about some bastard you can’t care about who’s decided to run out on his pregnant girlfriend. A better plot twist (and stage act) would have him topping himself.

Anyway. Today Hard Fi treated us to a superb cover of White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army and snarled their through a surprisingly punky set (though the lead’s stage pater let them down). I’m not convinced yet, but they could mature into something interesting.
This posted via mobile via Flickr and so not so closely proofread. Click the pic to see it large (there’s an ‘all-sizes’ tab for really large).

Reader offers & paid-for links

Many businesses offer payment to those who link to them and paid-for links are often used here in preference to free links. While such links are not as obvious as other forms of pay-per-click advertising, they still don’t influence views expressed. Entries labelled ‘Reader Offer’ are advertising promotions. Current offers include:
