Big Brother journalist naïve on effect of the press

‘It’s quite disconcerting to have people saying stuff about you. I kind of understand people getting cross with me now.’
Carol Malone

It’s seems quite remarkable that a journalist who makes a living by writing bitchy columns in a national newspaper is so naïve about the impact of her words. You’d have thought they get a fair amount of hate mail in response.

Yet Carol Malone of the Sunday Mirror seems genuinely surprised that sometimes her words hurt. Perhaps she doesn’t expect to be taken seriously. It’s just as well Carol isn’t able to hide behind a mask of anonymity and has to take responsibility for what she writes.

While such links are not as obvious as other forms of pay-per-click advertising, they still don’t influence views expressed. Entries labelled ‘Reader Offer’ are advertising promotions.
