Click to see ‘It's Harriet Harman’ in a variety of different sizesThe waiting is over. Harriet Harman, my second choice, is the new deputy leader of the Labour Party. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if that will include the role of deputy prime minister. But I reckon it will.

Five close rounds of voting, with the rumour getting it the wrong way round; Johnson was the close second. No real suprise that Blears came bottom or that Hain (my first choice) went next.

Benn is popular with the membership, but lacks the support of MPs/MEPs, so Cruddas beat him with massive Trade Union support.
