The hilltop village of Roussillon, Provence is famed for its ochre soil. So proud are they of the ochre soil, they’ve made the whole place a homage to ochre; ochre buildings, ochre art, ochre pottery et cetera.
We were tempted by a small ochre artwork by Francoise Buys, but settled on an ochre fruit plate by Christine Denniel.
These glass things full of sand are identical to those sold on the Isle of Wight, where I school tripped age eleven. I bought one for my grandmother, who told me never to buy her a present again.
