Blake Morrison comes across as a bit of a knob in this autobiographical film of his relationship with his father. Having failed to emerge from his stroppy teenager phase, Blake needs a reason to hate the father who clearly adores him and feels need no need to say it. He finds his reason, of course, but it seems more of an excuse.
A sentimental 6 out of 10.
