A couple of weeks ago I was taking a late evening breakfast at Manchester Airport before jetting off to ‘what the United Nations reckons is the most developed country in the world’. Our destination (from which I’ve been back a week) was, of course, Iceland which earned that ranking thanks to its people enjoying long lives, good education and high purchasing power. Sadly for Icelanders, scores on that last criteria have taken something of a dive in last few weeks.
The Reykjavik flea market is something of an oddity in Iceland. As the photo shows here you can get old vinyl records; they also have an extensive range of cheap VHS cassettes featuring Tommy Cooper. Everywhere else the emphasis is on quality and, even with a weak Krona, prices are on the high side, but that shouldn’t put you off taking a break here.
