Opening with a wonderful sequence that felt like a dark Tex Avery cartoon, Belleville Rendez-vous promised much and, for the most part, delivered. This was old-fashioned caricature and set against the knowing self-reference of today’s Hollywood, made a refreshing change. Wonderful stuff!
7.5 out of 10.
