Branston Baked Beans

Click to see ‘Branston Baked Beans’ in a variety of different sizesOne thing missing from all the stuff I’ve seen, stuff I’ve heard et cetera that makes this diary is stuff I’ve eaten. That is to say, there are no food reviews. That will be because while I do the cooking in our house, I am no chef.

Anyway. Here we go with a food review, of sorts: Branston Baked Beans, the biggest thing to hit the baked bean world since Tesco Value and the 8p (or whatever) tin. Branston is aimed at the top end, that is Heinz, but I should point out that we’re mid-range dinners by habit, not value but still supermarket own.

The first thing to note is that the sauce is quite viscose, a characteristic that remains post heating. Given Branston’s association with pickle, you might expect the sauce to be fairly tangy; it’s subtlely BBQ. The beans themselves are well sized and delightfully soft. Are they worth an extra few pence? Yes.
This posted via mobile via Flickr and so not so closely proofread. Click the pic to see it large (there’s an ‘all-sizes’ tab for really large).
