SubscribeStudio Ghibli’s losing its cult status thanks to classics like Spirited Away and Disney money, but there’s still something subversive about spurning CGI for anime on a Sunday afternoon. But while The Cat Returns makes for a pleasant afternoon, it fails to deliver the coming of age story we’re told has occurred, but haven’t witnessed.
