and now for something completely different

Here’s some light relief from earlier today, a Manchester choir whose name I didn’t catch getting into (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher, first a UK hit for Jackie Wilson in May 1969, when it reached number 11 in the hit parade.

It was these guys job to calm us all down after the excitement of the deputy leadership ballot and prepare us for Tony Blair MC, who introduced Big Gordie. Would you believe some people smirked at the back…? It was a little surreal.

  1. Smirking people at the back are always surreal. I’ll name that tremendous choir in one though. That is the Manchester People’s Choir and I claim my £5. Was it you that gave Guido the Oh Flip comment from behind Ms Harrie Harman?

On the choir they should have booked the Manchester Youth Soul Choir singing “We’ll Get There”. IMESHO.

  2. It was actually the choir I thought surreal (I was one of the smirkers I’m afraid). As for ‘Oh Flip’ not me. Flip is not a word I use much, though perhaps I should.
