Dead or Alive (Hanzaisha): Films is 50 words-ish

Living up to the Japanese reputation for extremes, Dead or Alive goes well beyond cartoon sex and violence with something to churn every stomach. While not quite fitting the Yakuza film genre, it pits up-and-coming Chinese against Yakuza gangs, corrupting the cop in the middle, punishing and, ultimately killing, all.
7 out of 10.
Director: Takashi Miike
