Two years ago we took the the perhaps odd decision to see Jamelia rather than Faithless at V. It’s not that we don’t respect Faithless, one of the most important dance acts of the 1990s, but we sort of knew they’d still be going strong in a couple of years. Pop is so much more ephemeral. Jamelia had just produced Superstar, as perfect a pop song as you could expect to hear… but where is she now?
Anyway. Faithless are very much here, whipping the crowd into a frenzy and proving that dance music can be much deeper than simple hedonistic escape.
