Everyone left with a different reading – though none seemed disappointed – so a plot description; Rampling superb as lady novelist with apparent ‘broomstick up her arse’. Inspired by foreign surroundings of southern France writes something different, but still feels obliged to deliver murder and sudden plot twist. The film’s twist? We’re watching her book.
