Hallelujah: Jeff Buckley or Alexandra Burke… which is best?

MP3 downloads from Amazon.co.ukWell it probably doesn’t matter if you’re Simon Cowell, as both Jeff Buckley’s Hallelujah and Alexandra Burke’s Hallelujah are released through Sony BMG…

But I’m not that impressed with either (or with Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah) as I find it a little maudlin, the subversion a little unsubtle. There’s an S&M relationship at the heart of it or a bible story, depending on what you want to believe. But then I always thought the story of Samson and Delilah was a metaphor for castration anyway.

Still it’s Leonard Cohen’s voice that’s stuck in my head… help!
