Jackson’s Boat, Sale Water Park

Click to see ‘Jackson's Boat, Sale Water Park’ in a variety of different sizesLook at me! Sitting outside Jackson’s Boat waiting for an ex-colleague. A decade ago this was one of my pubs and it was due to be demolished to make way for Metrolink (in theory it still is).

Now defunct Tetley Pub Company hoped to use the compensation to rebuild the pub on its football pitch. Local football teams don’t drink, at best they have a quick half. They wanted to get rid and create a more family friendly environment. There was quite a lot of anti-sports club sentiment at the time. One Liverpool licensee burnt his club’s kit because he wanted a car boot sale instead.

  1. I am trying to find some info on the teams that have used the football pitch at Jackson’s Boat.Over 35 years ago my late father and a friend helped run a football team at this ground and they were call Camberwell. I’m not sure if there was anything else in the title ie United or town, but I am trying to trace anyone who remembers this time. The players use to get changed round the back of the pub. Hope someone can shred some light on this. Cheers
