The Vatican has updated the list of mortal sins and excessive wealth is one such sin.
All of a sudden that lottery win isn’t looking so inviting as ‘immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into Hell’. Which is a little unfair.
It’s hard to see why they haven’t just stuck with greed, which I’d have thought would catch those who deserve it while still providing a degree of leeway.
Meanwhile, the BBC version of the list is terribly vague and includes ‘morally debatable experiments’. Scientists watch out: it will only take someone to open up a discussion – however spurious – on the morality of what your doing and it’s off to the inferno.
