Maria Full of Grace (Maria llena eres de gracia): Films in 50 words-ish

A fiction that that idolises documentary: we get the trauma of the coke smuggling mule caught by customs, only to be released (despite her flakiness) without explanation. Maria’s simple motivation (money Vs poverty), is easy to understand, but her romantic decision to remain stateside is not. Undeveloped, the references to Catholicism mislead.
An okay 6 out of ten.
Director: Joshua Marston…….Staring: Catalina Sandino Moreno
The Machinist……The Assassination of Richard Nixon

I would have given it 8… But then I have a Latin America obsession.

Her decision to remain stateside seemed clear enough – the existance of basic healthcare, better jobs and greater life chances for her baby. I didn’t get why she was released either though.
