Closing the first night of V Festival 2008 in Staffordshire, The Verve proved competent stadium rockers (even they did leave the stage a little abruptly; what no encore?).
And so, a decade and Richard Ashcroft’s not-so-great solo career later, we’re left wondering what might have been, so premature was their demise.
