SubscribeHumanising a paedophile is risky, but The Woodsman manages to do so while maintaining a necessary degree of horror. Bacon invites understanding, but not sympathy: his sexuality means he’ll always be a monster. All of which makes for a mature, but gripping and suspenseful movie.
A whacking great 9 out of 10.
